Mentor a Middle School Youth in Lent

faith_10724cMentor a Middle School Youth!
We are looking for adults of all generations who would be willing to spend time in faith conversations with one of our middle school youth for the season of Lent. We provide you with conversation guides and ask that you meet together four times in Lent Season (anytime from March 12-April 30th)! It’s a wonderful way to be a blessing and an offering to our community as we keep our baptismal promises to support parents in the raising of children in the faith.

2014 Theme: Lazarus–we are making our way throughout scriptures this year and in keeping with the Lenten them of Walking the Walk we will explore the walk of faith of Lazarus and ourselves.
**New This Year: The opportunity to sign up for mentor pairs/small groups. If you would like to meet in a small group instead of one on one, we will have an opportunity for you to coordinate with others to make this happen.
March 12 6:00-7:00pm : Mentor orientation and meeting your student.
March 19-April 23: This is the season of Lent where we ask that you meet with your student four times in this time period. We suggest that you meet on Wednesdays either before or after worship (worship at 7:00pm) and sit together in worship. However, if you have times that you need to make other arrangements that is to be done on your own with the parents and the student.
April 30th 6:45-8:00pm: Mentor Wrap up and Service Project Together. This is a time to come together again to celebrate the experience and share together as a large group.
Requirements:
Willingness to share your faith and life experiences in an appropriate way with a middle school youth
Committment to exploring faith and life as a Christian
Be willing to commit to between 30-60 minutes four times in the Lent season
Have a short conversation with Pastor Leta or Pastor Michael if you have not mentored before and provide contact information
Agree to a background check through OSLC if not previously done.
