Advent is time to prepare, to watch, to wait and allow our spirits to be open to the silence and to the surprises that the season can bring. In worship we will center around the stories of Mary, Elizabeth, Zechariah, Joseph as they await Jesus’ birth as one that has already changed their worlds and will continue to change the world–brining light to the darkness and sound to the silence throughout time.

About Matt Skinner
Matthew L. Skinner is Professor of New Testament at Luther Seminary. His books include Intrusive God, Disruptive Gospel: Encountering the Divine in the Book of Acts (Brazos Press, 2015) and The Trial Narratives: Conflict, Power, and Identity in the New Testament(WJK Press, 2010). Motivated by an interest in helping people explore the Bible’s connections to faith and life, he has contributed to a number of commentaries, encyclopedias, and other resources to assist pastors, teachers, and students in their study of Christian scripture. Every week he co-hosts the Sermon Brainwave podcast on Working Preacher. He is an ordained teaching elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and can be found online at www.matthewskinner.org.

God’s Work Our Hands
WE HAVE MANY-MINI PROJECTS AT THE CHURCH. Projects that with many hands would be mini-work. In order to take these projects on, and include as many people as possible we scheduled one Sunday a month after church, and one Wednesday a month mid-morning throughout the summer. We plan to only spend about an hour each time. The following is our schedule. If you have other mini-projects that extra hands would help make quicker work of these you may add them to the list, or just join us. Besides these projects weeding around our sign, and in our flower beds is always appreciated.
Sunday, June 14th 10:30AM will be Paint Day. Wear something that can get messy to church. Bring a brush if you can.
Wednesday, June 24th 10AM we will take on Gutters and Windows. Bring a bucket and your best window cleaners.
July and August Dates are scheduled, but the project details are not yet available:

Bike to Church Weekend – June 18 & 19
Bike to church to raise funds for the Habitat Houses we will be working on July 18th and September 22. Bikers, record your miles to church! Donors, donate an amount per mile ridden! there will be a sign up and donation board in the narthex!
