Serve at OSLC
Serving is a part of what we do and who we are at OSLC.
Looking to serve others in our community and one another is a way that we engage our faith in the world. There are many opportunities to serve and some are highlighted here.
Outside Our Walls
This group focuses on how to connect with community needs, raise funds for other organizations, and educate the congregation on how they can serve outside the church walls. If you are interested in becoming a part of this group or in learning more, please email Pastor Leta Behrens at leta@our-saviours.org.
Habitat
Our Saviour’s helps to support Habitat for Humanity as this organization builds safe, secure, and affordable homes in our community. Habitat’s mission is putting God’s love into action by bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope. We assist Habitat in this mission by volunteering to: 1) help with home construction, 2) serve lunch to construction volunteers, 3) sell goods at Habitat’s ReStore, 4) provide leadership on youth projects, 5) help with fundraising for future faith-build homes, and 6) join volunteer efforts to help families in other countries through Habitat’s Global Village.
Many of these volunteer activities are shared efforts with the three other ELCA Lutheran churches in Ft. Collins, along with two partner churches, in the formation of FOCOLU-Habitat Faith Builders. Through our FOCOLU partnership, OSLC volunteers can help build Habitat homes one day each month for about 10 months of the year.
To learn more about Habitat, or to volunteer in making a difference in our community, please email Jerry Freier (freierreed@msn.com).
Serve in Worship
We invite you to sign up to greet, usher, be a worship assistant, or acolyte! Serving in worship is a wonderful opportunity to welcome new people and connect with familiar faces. It is also a great way to serve as a family. Learn More
Faith Family Hospitality
The mission of FFH is to help families experiencing homelessness achieve sustainable self-sufficiency in a timely and dignified manner. This interfaith volunteer effort coordinates the work of 32 diverse Ft. Collins faith communities, 1400 volunteers, and many partner agencies. As part of the much larger Family Housing Network, FFH provides the full range of emergency and stabilizing services needed for our guest parents and children to become self-sufficient—including day respite at the FHN Day Center and case management services. In the near future, families will have complete wrap-around care at the FHN Sherwood House, which will serve families needing longer to gain permanent housing and self-sufficiency.
We joined together with other churches and faith organizations to help meet the need for homeless families to have a place to stay while they figure out permanent housing. Once a quarter we host four families in our building as our guests for the week. There are many ways to serve in this ministry. Please contact Jodi Loecke (jsloecke@comcast.net or 970-371-5345) with questions. Click on this link to see how you can be involved and for more information. Learn More
Stephen Ministry
Stephen’s Ministry is a way we serve those in need of support during crisis, bereavement or general life struggles.
Faith and Justice
This group helps us to learn about injustices in our world that cause human suffering and to reflect on how our faith calls us to respond. We are encouraged to speak out and act to correct these injustices. Contact Beth DeHaven at bethadehaven@gmail.com.
Memorial Reception Ministry
When we have a celebration-of-life/funeral at OSLC, members generously provide cookies for the reception after the service. Others volunteer to assist with set-up, serving, and clean-up. Invitations to assist are sent out from the church office. If you are willing to help, please email office@our-saviours.org or call the church office at (970) 484-3133.
